The Pope Francis Center provides life-saving services with love, hope and dignity to people experiencing chronic homelessness in the heart of downtown Detroit. We provide shelter from the elements and meet the basic needs of nearly 200 guests each day. We have 30 years of serving Detroit’s most vulnerable citizens and a commitment to eradicating chronic homelessness by 2030.
We serve unconditional love and acceptance each day along with nourishing meals, access to proper hygiene, clean clothes, free medical and dental, and other vital support. We minister to our guests’ mind, body and spirit with dignity, fairness and respect.
Those who are chronically homeless face the greatest barriers to self-sustainability and require intensive support that no organization in Detroit currently offers. Pope Francis Center is working to fill that gap. We have bold plans for a revolutionary, coordinated solution to chronic homelessness – our All the Way Home Bridge Housing project.
We’ve temporarily relocated to the TCF Center this winter!
Since March, our team has worked tirelessly to provide our guests refuge during the pandemic. With our relocation, we’ve launched our Sanctuary for the Season fundraising campaign to help cover $250,000 in additional expenses to serve our guests through this season.
