Every morning, we offer our guests two meals, showers and laundry services.
In order to make it all happen, we need volunteers willing to roll up their sleeves and do a little bit of everything.
Strap on your chef’s hat and sharpen your knives – we are serious about food that nourishes the body, mind and soul. Whether it’s black bean burgers with roasted root veggies or whole wheat penne with homemade pesto and grilled chicken, we rely on cooks to prepare and serve 400 meals daily.
Please note: All meals must be prepared in the PFC kitchen
Free parking is located in a secure lot directly behind the Pope Francis Center. Entrance to the lot is off Larned, just east of Saint Antoine.
Once you park, cross Larned and enter the building through the rear courtyard. As you approach the courtyard, you will see a door marked “Office” on the right. Please use the intercom to buzz and let us know you’ve arrived to volunteer!
Closed-toed shoes and a baseball cap or head covering are required at all times for kitchen volunteers. We’d recommend you wear both no matter what your duties are for the day – just in case we need a backup sous chef!
That depends on what you signed up for! Saturday morning volunteers will start in the kitchen cooking and serving the daily meal. Some may be asked to assist with laundry or in the front office, passing out towels and toiletries, and managing the showers. We also have volunteers come in to help us meal prep on weekdays. No matter what, you will always be with a staff member to help you along the way!
