Position Title: Associate Director of Bridge Housing

 

About Pope Francis Center
Pope Francis Center exists to provide meals, supportive services, and housing assistance to Detroit community members in need, especially those experiencing homelessness. On an average day, we welcome over 200 guests and provide them with nutritious meals, showers, laundry, and access to doctors, dentists, lawyers, and housing providers through our free clinics. We have been serving Detroit’s most vulnerable citizens for over 30 years, and we envision a Detroit without homelessness, where every person has the resources for sustained stability.

 

Job Description
Join us as the Associate Director of Bridge Housing and play a pivotal role in transforming lives at the Bridge Housing Campus. This is more than a job; it’s a calling to make a real difference in the lives of our 40 residents. You will lead a dedicated team committed to not just managing, but also enhancing our bridge housing program. Your work will directly contribute to creating a nurturing and welcoming space within the community, embodying our mission to provide not just shelter, but real transformation in people’s lives.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Empowerment through Supervision: Mentor and develop our staff, fostering a team
    that’s passionate about making a positive impact.
  • Collaborative Partnership Coordination: Build strong relationships with service providers
    to enhance the quality of life for our residents and guests.
  • Policy Development with Purpose: Craft and revise policies that not only comply with a
    standard of excellence but also advance our residents’ journey to stability.
  • Proactive Safety Management: Ensure a secure environment where residents and staff
    can thrive.
  • Strategic Agency Collaboration: Join forces with external partners to create seamless
    support networks.
  • Mindful Financial Oversight: Steward our resources to expand opportunities for growth
    and change.
  • Impactful Program Evaluation: Use feedback to drive meaningful improvements in our
    services.
  • Inspirational Leadership: Lead with compassion, guiding both staff and residents
    towards a program that will make a lasting impact.
  • Cultural Promotion: Be the heart of our culture, inspiring a sense of belonging and
    purpose.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, with a preference to those in social work, human services,
    program management, or a related field.
  • Experience: A proven track record of leadership in residential or homeless services.
  • Knowledge: A deep understanding of the complexities of homelessness and a
    commitment to trauma-informed care.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication and organizational talents, ready to adapt to the ever-
    changing needs of our community.
  • Technical Proficiency: Adept with technology, using it as a tool to enhance our mission.
  • Discretion: Trusted to handle sensitive information with the utmost integrity.
  • Flexibility: Availability for the moments that matter most, no matter when they occur.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic
    environment.
  • Ability to use computer software and applications, such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite,
    and database systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

 

Working Conditions:
This job primarily operates in-person in a dynamic social services setting. This role requires the ability to lift 50 pounds independently; walk, climb, or descend stairs; kneel, bend, and twist; and occasionally operate a commercial vehicle to pick up and deliver items.
