About the Pope Francis Center: Pope Francis Center exists to provide meals, supportive services, and housing assistance to Detroit community members in need, especially those experiencing homelessness. On an average day, we welcome over 200 guests and provide them with nutritious meals, showers, laundry, and access to doctors, dentists, lawyers, and housing providers through our free clinics. We have been serving Detroit’s most vulnerable citizens for over 30 years, and we envision a Detroit without homelessness, where every person has the resources for sustained stability.

Job Description:

Join us as a Residential Programs Coordinator of Bridge Housing and play a pivotal role in transforming lives at the Bridge Housing Campus. This is more than a job; it’s a calling to make a real difference in the lives of our 40 residents. You will collaborate with a dedicated team committed to not just managing, but also enhancing our bridge housing program. Your work will directly contribute to creating a nurturing and welcoming space within the community, embodying our mission to provide not just shelter, but real transformation in people’s lives.

Residential Program Coordinators at the Pope Francis Center Bridge Housing Campus are responsible for helping to support the educational, recreational, and therapeutic programs and goals for residents. Working under the supervision of the Residential Manager and in coordination with the Care Plan Team, this role ensures that residents have access to activities and resources that promote their personal development and well-being.

Responsibilities:

1. Program Coordination and Support:

      • Coordinate the daily operations of residential life, ensuring a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
      • Ensure programming schedules for activities, meals, and other daily routines are followed.
      • Support the logistics and execution of recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities for residents, partners, volunteers, and other resources.

2. Hospitality and Onboarding

      • Support onboarding of new residents, assisting them in settling into their rooms, explaining policies, and ensuring a smooth transition into the program.
      • Ensure that resident rooms are reset, cleaned, and prepared for new residents in coordination with the facilities team.
      • Help maintain a clean and well-organized living environment, including common areas, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.

3. Daily Resident Encouragement and Supervision:

      • Support residents in setting and achieving personal goals, monitoring their progress, providing ongoing encouragement, and responding to immediate needs and concerns along the way.
      • Ensure residents adhere to the program’s code of conduct and community guidelines.

4. Documentation, Evaluation and Reporting:

      • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of critical resident interactions, progress, and outcomes.
      • Participate in team meetings to discuss resident progress and program effectiveness.
      • Helping residents in managing their medication and reinforcing good habits with reminders, documentation, and other supportive measures.

Ideal Candidates:

  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable populations.
  • Experience working in residential programs, social services, homeless services, or related fields.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in program coordination, case management, or direct service work in a community-based setting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage daily residential operations effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with residents, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency to track resident progress and program activities.

The Part-time Residential Programs Coordinator will play a crucial role in the success of the Pope Francis Center Bridge Housing Campus, ensuring that residents receive the comprehensive support they need to transition to stable, independent living.

Working Conditions:

  • This job primarily operates in-person in a dynamic social services setting. This role requires the ability to lift 50 pounds independently; walk, climb, or descend stairs; kneel, bend, and twist; and occasionally operate a commercial vehicle to pick up and deliver items.
